Because the use of the word "alleluia" is prohibited during the season of Lent. Songs marked with an asterisks * can not be used from Ash Wednesday to Easter.

Alleluia and other Acclamations:
Because the acclamations are to be sung by everyone, including visitors to the parish, we use Mass settings and other acclamations that the staff has determined will be familiar to the most people.
Presentation Of The Gifts: (This can be a hymn, a solo piece or it can be instrumental music. Since it is not tied to any particular ritual action the music here can be more flexible. This is a good place for a hymn or song to the Blessed Mother if one is desired)
| Ave Maria (Solo) | I Have Loved You | # 416 | |
| Gentle Woman | # 306 | Only This I Want | # 407 |
| You Are Mine | # 454 | Prayer of Saint Francis | # 458 |
You can also choose most of the other songs listed elsewhere in this aid.
Communion Song: (We sing during the communion procession as a sign of our unity. Music that speaks directly of communion, the Lord’s Supper and unity are good choices. Because people are moving, it is desirable to use something with a short refrain easily sung by all without need for a book.)
| Behold the Lamb | # 497 | I Am the Bread of Life | # 482 |
| Blest Are They | # 409 | Taste and See | # 494 |
| Eat This Bread | # 489 | Taste and See | # 116 |
| One Bread One Body | # 472 | The Supper of the Lord | # 488 |
| Song of the Body of Christ | # 491 | Bread of Life | # 473 |
| You Are Near | # 442 | On Eagles Wings | # 434 |
Procession to the Committal – Closing Song (Because people will leave the books behind as they join the procession out of the church a song with a short familiar refrain or a very familiar song that all can sing without a book or program is most appropriate
)|
On Eagles Wings # 434 Blest Are They # 409 How Great Thou Art # 383 Be Not Afraid # 427 I Am the Bread of Life # 482 Song of Farewell (Sands) # 343 |
